What does Third Party Car Insurance cover?

Third Party Property Damage Insurance covers accidental damage to other people's cars and property caused by the use of your car. But you're not covered for any damage to your own car, as you would be with Comprehensive Car Insurance. AutoEZ doesn't have a Third Party Fire and Theft car insurance product, so if you want cover for this, you'll need to take up Comprehensive Car Insurance.

This cover isn't the same as Compulsory Third Party (CTP) or Green Slip insurance. CTP covers your liability to pay compensation for injuries to other people. It's a mandatory insurance that can be purchased separately when registering your car. In some Australian states, CTP might be included in your vehicle registration costs. Do I need Third Party Car Insurance?

While not mandatory, Third Party Car Insurance (also known as Third Party Property Damage Insurance) is important because it provides cover for accidental damage to someone else's car or property through the use of your car. Otherwise, you'd have to cover the costs yourself, which may be very expensive. If you have Third Party Car Insurance and hit someone's car, you'll be covered for your legal liability up to $20 million.

Does Third Party Car Insurance cover hail damage?

Third Party Car Insurance only covers accidental damage caused by your car to third party vehicles or property, it does not cover damage to your car from elements like hail. If you want cover for your own car as well, consider our Comprehensive Car Insurance.

This includes the liability cover you get with Third Party Car Insurance and also covers accidental loss or damage to your car caused by:

• ✔ driving accidents; or
• ✔ nature (e.g. storm, hail, or fire); or
• ✔ something else (e.g. theft or malicious damage).
